Therina Bella Featured Interview In UK Magazine

Check out Therina's Interview with Jamsphere, a UK Magazine that features Indie Rock Music.

We continue our journey to discover what makes indie artists tick with Rick Jamm’s “Twenty Questions”. This time around it’s the talented alternative and gothic rock, singer songwriter Therina Bella, who opens her doors to help Jamsphere readers understand what makes her work so hard at her craft.

1. How long have you been doing what you’re doing and how did you get started in the first place?

THERINA:   I probably began singing in utero. As a child I was very musical and interested in musical instruments and performing. I began taking piano lessons when I was nine from a conservatory trained teacher who seemed like she’d break your knuckles if you made a mistake. As a result I was highly motivated to practice.

2. Who has been, or are, your musical influences?  READ MORE....

Blues Bunny Review of Let's Hold Hands And Watch The World End

Therina Bella
Let's Hold Hands And Watch The World End
Eyelash Wish Records
Released: 2011
A self proclaimed concept album? Outside of the metal genre, such a thing is something of a rarity these days but Therina Bella has released one called "Let's Hold Hands And Watch The World End".  The concept? To quote the press release: " What if you spent your entire life searching for your soul mate only to discover once you've found them that the world was about to end?"
Sounds suitably dramatic and just the sort of thing that Jim Steinman would have readily embraced back in the day.  However, Therina Bella is careful to avoid pretension here and although there are grandiose moments ("Up In Flames" would surely find friends in the set lists of the most bombastic of rock bands) she runs her concept straight from start to finish leading me to inevitably comment about how unusual it is for an album these days to be designed as a whole rather than as merely a storage device for a few singles.

As a performer, it has to be said that Therina Bella throws herself into her songs with gusto becoming positively theatrical in "Hands Off" before throwing her all into the big finale in "Ether". So, whilst "Let's Hold Hands And Watch The World End" marks the welcome return of the concept album, it might also herald the return of another oft thought lost musical institution, the rock opera. Reading through the lyrics, right before my eyes I could see a script just calling out to be written…

Review From UK Magazine LEICESTER BANGS

Therina Bella - Let's Hold Hands And Watch The World End (Eyelash Wish)
A concept album of sorts, based upon two people meant for each other and, as luck would have it, they finally get together when the planet is at a minute to midnight (or, as Therina Bella puts it, “It’s about having an emotional apocalypse”). Not exactly a cheery premise, whatever the definition, but that doesn’t stop Therina from belting out the songs that make up the album. Add to that a production of the highest quality and you have a contender for, er, well, to tell the truth I’m not exactly sure what. It isn’t prog, it’s not quite metal, it isn’t AOR… what about just good old plain hard rock?

It’s fascinating stuff. “Brace Yourself”, the album’s midpoint, has a haunting acoustic opening that gives way to a bombastic bit of heavy. The cello on closing number “Ether” is truly gorgeous too, as it is at the end of “Up In Flames Reprise”, where Therina’s piano gets top billing, which it thoroughly deserves. You have to be able to like a bit of ‘over the top’ to appreciate this sophomore collection of songs (let’s face it, with an album title that ‘does what it says on the tin’ you really should expect it), and if that’s within your scope then you’ll find quite a lot of enjoyment here. Maybe on album three Therina will show us more of her quiet, melodic side; but, then again…

Another Revolution Around The Sun! AKA My Birthday!

I love my birthday. Lots of my friends complain about their birthdays. I don't see the sense in complaining about the inevitable. The only alternative to having another birthday is DEATH. And let me just say, that is a sucky alternative.

Shopping for the perfect Birthday Hat.
I love celebrating my past revolution around the sun and gearing up for the next, which I know will be even more amazing and adventurous than the one before it!

Hello Kitty cake made with Funfetti and Rainbow Chip Icing. Mmmmmmm. Compliments of my sister.

A crown for the Birthday Girl and Stickers compliments of my niece, the party planner.
This year birthday was filled with cupcakes (of course), ice cream, yummy food, friends, balloons and yes, even UNICORNS!!

A Unicorn and Pony dropped by at the party. Compliments of my niece again. :)

My baby unicorn, UNI, posing next to Faerie  Magazine. I wish someone would publish Unicorn Monthly!

I had a wonderful birthday. I wish I was allowed more than one a year. ;)
Love and Revolutions,

The Shrapnel In Your Heart

This is a performance of the last song on my new record entitled, Ether.

Ether- Words and Music by Therina Bella

Count back from ten with a mask over me
My limbs are pins and needles as they shake
And your face is the thought
I’ve fought hard against
When the ether catches me like death
And it feels like I’m tearing at the seams
And you’re sewing me back so carefully
But you know that when you hold me you’ll be lonely again
And when you hold me it’ll feel like it’s the end
When I come to it’s all the same
The way the light pours in to catch you
And your smile can’t hide the shrapnel in your heart
That cuts you every time you look at me
And it feels like I’m tearing at the seams
And you’re sewing me back so carefully
But you know that when you hold me you’ll be lonely again
And when you hold me it’ll feel like it’s the end
Hold me
Hold me again
And you’ll be lonely and you’ll feel like it’s the end

I-Tunes

It's OFFICIAL! My brand new album, 'Let's Hold Hands And Watch The World End' is available on I-Tunes!

I worked on the album for a year from inception of songs to recording and arranging. It was a labour of love and I enjoyed every second of it.

The songs are EPIC, hopelessly romantic, apocalyptic, terrifying and sweet. Sometimes all at once.

This is a very exciting day for me because I'm now able to share it with the world!
I hope you all love listening to it as much as I loved creating it. <3

Love and Cupcakes,
